Kristen Stewart isn't opposed to a "Twilight" remake – but this time she wants to be the one in the director's chair.
The actress, 35, told Entertainment Tonight in a recent interview that while she loved what director Catherine Hardwicke did with the first movie, she was open to adding her own twist. The original vampire franchise's sequels were directed by Chris Weitz, David Slade and Bill Condon. Stewart recently directed her first feature film, "The Chronology of Water," which hit theaters in early December.
"I love what all of the directors did with the movies," Stewart told the outlet. "But they were so themselves and weird and kind of like squirrelly and just so present in that time when they didn’t really know what they were yet, before they blew up."
Kristen Stewart says 'Twilight' was 'such a gay movie'
Based on the bestselling book series by Stephenie Meyer, the "Twilight" film franchise propelled Stewart and her costars to a singular fame. Sparking a vampire-romance craze, the movies existed in tandem with a media craze around Stewart's on-and-off relationship with fellow lead Robert Pattinson. Maligned as chick-lit come to life, the films have, in later years, transformed into cult classics.
