Following the instructions of Superintendent of Police, Tuhin Sinha, the district police conducted a special drive to tackle illicit liquor under Narsipatnam sub-division limits.
As part of the drive, Narsipatnam Rural police conducted search operations at P. Lakshmipuram and Gadabapalem villages on Sunday. During the searches, police uncovered a secret country-made illicit liquor brewing unit being operated in the cashew plantations on the village outskirts. About 3,200 litres of Fermented Jaggery wash (FJ wash), destroyed on the spot. Drums, vessels, and other equipment used for brewing the illicit liquor were seized by the police.
