A major fire broke out at SVS Chemical Industries in the Andhra Pradesh Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) de-notified area of Achutapuram in Rambilli mandal of Anakapalli district on Saturday. No casualties were reported as the workers who were present at the spot escaped unhurt.
However, thick fire and smoke engulfed the surroundings, leaving the locals in a state of panic.
Anakapalli District Fire Officer Ramana said that they received a phone call about the fire at around 4.30 p.m. “We immediately deployed eight vehicles. It took around 70 minutes to bring the fire under control,” he said.
District Collector Vijay Krishnan, in a statement, confirmed that there was no loss of life in the accident.
Referring to a report submitted by officials, immediate action was taken by the officials concerned and the fire was brought under control by 5:30 p.m., the statement said.
