A scientific programme focusing on the health benefits of Pazhaiya Soru (fermented rice) will be held at the Government Stanley Medical College Hospital on January 5. It aims at highlighting the health benefits of fermented rice, with emphasis on evidence-based research, preventive health strategies, nutrition, metabolic health and disease prevention.
Experts from various medical and academic institutions will present scientific perspectives and share insights linking traditional dietary practices with modern medical science. In line with this, a competition will be organised on January 3 to encourage public participation and awareness regarding traditional preparation methods.
The programme forms part of a broader initiative to promote Tamil traditional food practices, particularly Pazhaiya Soru, which has been historically recognised for its nutritional and health-promoting properties, according to a press release.
