Jennifer Lopez marked her return to the concert stage this week with an expert clapback at her critics. The pop diva kicked off her “Up All Night Live in Las Vegas” residency Tuesday at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, entertaining fans with a few self-aware jokes in between renditions of “Jenny From the Block” and “Love Don’t Cost a Thing.” At one point, while clad in a sparkling green bustier and fringed skirt designed by Celia Kritharioti, she took aim at those who criticize her sexy style.“I do laugh at some of the things [people say online] sometimes, because they do say funny things, too,” Lopez said, as seen in footage from the show online. “‘Why is she always dressed that way? Why don’t she dress her age?’ ― I’m like, ‘Huh?’ ‘Why’s she always naked?’”After the crowd expressed its disapproval, she proclaimed, “And I say, ’If you had this body, you’d be naked, too!”Elsewhere in the show, Lopez quipped about her headline-making love life ― specifically her four marriages ― while reminiscing about her first Las Vegas residency, which ran from January 2016 to September 2018.“That went by in a blink, didn’t it? For those of you who were there on opening night 10 years ago,” she said. “At that time, I had only been married twice.”After clarifying that she was kidding, she added, “The good news is is that I’m learning and I’m growing. We’re in our happy era right now.”Lopez is slated to perform in Las Vegas through late March. In addition to her greatest hits, the show finds the actor and singer putting her spin on Broadway classics, including “Whatever Lola Wants” from the musical “Damn Yankees” and “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” made famous by Barbra Streisand in “Funny Girl.” Jennifer Lopez will perform her residency in Las Vegas through late March.
