A 35-year-old autorickshaw driver was allegedly stabbed to death during New Year celebrations in the K.P. Agrahara police station limits on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Rechanna, a resident of Bhuvaneshwari Nagar, K.P. Agrahara.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 11.45 p.m., when unidentified assailants attacked him near his house and fled from the scene. The murder came to light when passers-by noticed Rechanna lying dead in a pool of blood.
The police said the attackers stabbed Rechanna with a sharp weapon, inflicting severe injuries to his chest and back. He sustained profuse bleeding and collapsed on the spot. He died due to excessive blood loss.
Following the incident, the police personnel conducted a spot inspection and registered a case. The police have launched a probe to nab the accused.
