The State government issued a notification on December 31, 2025, announcing promotions and transfers of several IPS officers, effective from January 1, 2026.
M.B. Boralingaiah, previously Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Southern Range, Mysuru), has been promoted as Inspector-General (IG) of Police in the same role, while Ajay Hilori takes charge as IG, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes, Bengaluru). Proforma promotions to IG grade were accorded to Ram Niwas Sepat, Anupam Agrawal, and Rohini Katoch Sepat.
In the Deputy IG cadre, over 20 officers from the 2012 batch received promotions, including Bheemashankar S. Guled to Criminal Investigation Department (Economic Offences), Ilakkiya Karunagaran to Wireless Bengaluru, and C.B. Vedamurthy to State Intelligence. Others like K.M. Shantharaju stayed in Internal Security Division, while C.K. Baba has been moved to the Karnataka State Reserve Police.
Superintendent of Police promotions have been given to Anoop A. Shetty and Chandrakanth M.V. (to Bengaluru Rural). Transfers included Mohammad Sujeetha M.S. (Hassan to DCP South East Bengaluru.
