Happy (almost) New Year!
2026 is hours away in the United States, and the countdown to a new dawn begins.
New York City's Times Square, which hosts the iconic New Year’s Eve ball drop, is all set to welcome guests and host the event attended by thousands and viewed by millions worldwide.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, in a Tuesday, Dec. 30, social media post, boasted, "people from all over the globe come to our city to ring in the new year because no one puts on a show like New York City." Adams added that the New York Police Department and public safety and operations agencies will ensure the event is a safe and fun one for all, and encouraged the public to report any suspicious activity.
At the center of the Times Square annual countdown celebration is the new and updated Constellation Ball, with 5,280 Waterford crystals and LED light pucks, nearly double the number of crystals as the previous ball, according to a One Times Square news release.
