Aman's wife saved him from an attack by their pitbull by stabbing the animal to death near Rome Tuesday night, local sources said Wednesday.
The man was taken to the hospital in Rome overnight in serious but not life-threatening condition after being attacked by his pitbull.
According to initial reports, while he was at home, he was attacked by his dog and only managed to free himself thanks to the timely intervention of his wife, who, armed with a kitchen knife, stabbed the animal, killing it.
Carabinieri officers from the Capena station responded to the couple's home following a report to the emergency number 112.
The knife was seized, while the animal's carcass was handed over to staff from the ASL Roma 4 health authority.
