Denmark’s national postal service PostNord stopped the delivery of postal letters in the country from Tuesday (December 30, 2025), according to the agency.

This rare decision makes Denmark probably the first country in the world to stop postal service. The volume of letters has decreased by over 90% since the year 2000 in the country, PostNord said in a statement published in March 2025.

The agency is also planning to upgrade itself by improving its parcel services, considering a huge hike in online shopping in the country.

According to the statement, the last day to send basic posts such as letters, business letters, direct mail, and magazine mail was on December 18. The agency also stopped receiving quick mails by December 29, 2025.

International postal delivery has also been stopped from December 31.
