Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Eurostar suspended all Channel Tunnel trains because of a power outage, though trains are expected to resume Tuesday afternoon.
Eurostar, the high-speed railway company that connects Great Britain to Europe through the Channel Tunnel, blamed the issue on an overhead power supply issue and told passengers to postpone their journeys.
"As the Channel Tunnel has partially reopened we will start to resume services," an announcement on the Eurostar website said. "The overhead power supply issue remains, and we strongly advise all our passengers to postpone their journey to a different date. Please don't come to the station if your train is confirmed as cancelled. We regret that trains that can run will be subject to severe delays and possible last-minute cancellations. Please check for live updates on the status of your train on the Train status and timetables page."
It also blamed an issue with a train operated by LeShuttle, which transports vehicles by rail through the tunnel. LeShuttle's website said trains are resuming but are delayed. The train broke down and had to be removed from the tunnel, The Guardian reported. None of its passengers were stranded in the tunnel.
Britain's National Rail warned earlier in the day that the power supply problem was expected to cause severe delays between London St. Pancras and Paris Nord stations.
