Italian police are trying to identify a woman whose body was found in a corner of the internal courtyard of a condominium in Milan Monday in what is suspected to be Italy's latest femicide.

Police have distributed CCTV images of the woman, aged between 35 and 40, who had bruises on her neck and is believed to have been raped before she was killed.

In the footage she is shown walking near the condo.

Italy recently passed a law mandating life imprisonment for femicide.

The measure changed Italy's criminal law and punishes with life imprisonment anyone who causes the death of a woman "with acts of discrimination or hatred towards the victim because she is a woman, or if the criminal act is aimed at repressing the exercise of the rights, freedoms or personality of the woman".
