Scores of devotees from different corners of the State witnessed the grand spectacle of Teppotsavam, the celestial boat ride of the Utsava idols of Lord Rama with his consort Sita, on Godavari river in Bhadrachalam late on Monday evening.
The colourfully illuminated swan-shaped boat, carrying the processional idols, made five circular rounds amid recital of Vedic hymns by the priests in a spiritually surcharged atmosphere.
Hordes of devotees gathered on the banks of the Godavari to witness the mega religious event.
Bhadrachalam MLA Dr. T. Venkat Rao, Bhadradri Kothagudem Collector Jitesh V. Patil, Superintendent of Police B. Rohit Raju, and Bhadrachalam Integrated Tribal Development Agency Project Officer B. Rahul were among those present.
The temple authorities have made necessary arrangements for the ‘Uttara Dwara Darshanam’, a special ritual to be held on the occasion of Mukkoti (Vaikunta) Ekadasi festival, at the historic Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam early on Tuesday (December 30) morning.
