Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Brock Purdy threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more to steer an epic victory over the Seattle Seahawks, keeping the San Francisco 49ers quest alive for the NFC's top seed.
The 49ers quarterback totaled 303 passing yards, including a 38-yard go-ahead touchdown with 2:15 remaining in the 42-38 triumph Sunday in Santa Clara, Calif.
"Brock's been playing his [expletive] off, made some huge plays in this game, kept some drives alive with his legs, made some off-schedule plays, and was an assassin out there throughout the whole day," 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters.
With Sunday's victory, the 49ers extended a six-game winning streak to improve to 12-4. They sit in second place in the NFC West, behind the Seattle Seahawks, their Week 18 opponent. The winner of that season finale will secure the division title, the NFC's top seed and a first-round bye in the playoffs.
