The fire that broke out at a Puja item shop in Kundapura damaged five shops on Monday (December 29, 2025) morning. The police said there were no casualties in the incident.
The fire broke out in the puja item shop around 2 a.m. in the street between Venkataramana temple and Pete Anjaneya temple. A fire tender each rushed to the spot from Kundapura and Byndoor respectively.
The police said, “The fire resulted from an electrical short circuit at the puja item shop, and it spread to other shops. The fire completely burnt the puja shop and two other shops. Two shops were partially burnt.”
“One electronics items shop, a provisions shop, a hardware shop, and one books shop, which housed a cracker godown, were all affected by the fire.” Police further added.
