One person died, and another was injured in four separate fire incidents in the Capital on Friday, an officer said.
In Mustafabad, north-east Delhi, a fire broke out on the ground floor of a four-storey building with a repair shop. Junaid, 20, died in the fire, and his brother, Sameer, 23, suffered burn injuries, the officer said.
“Sameer was discharged from G.T.B. after receiving treatment. We have formed a team to investigate the fire incident. Further action will be taken after the team submits a report,” the officer said.
Police have registered a case under sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence), 287 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter), and 324(4) (mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
In another incident, eight electricity meters at a residential building in Munirka, south Delhi, caught fire. The officer said the fire was put out within 10 minutes, and no one was hurt.
