A car was damaged after stones fell from a Metro Rail construction site in Porur on Friday.
The police said the construction of a section of the Metrorail’s elevated corridor was in progress on the Mount Poonamallee Road. Durai, who runs a hardware store in Porur, was travelling from Porur to Iyyappanthangal in his car, when stones fell on it, causing damage to the windshield and sunroof.
Mr. Durai of Kovilambakkam, a functionary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, parked his vehicle on the road in protest. He removed the vehicle after police officials pacified him.
A few two-wheeler riders who were following the car on the highway had a narrow escape.
