Discussion on destruction caused to crops by wild boars dominated the farmers’ grievances redress session conducted on Wednesday after a gap of two months.

The combined meeting for November and December witnessed farmers demanding rights to chase back the wild boars into the forest.

The monthly meeting could not be conducted during November in view of the 87th seminar for Agricultural Scientists and Extension Officers at Chennai.

Farmers lamented on the loss of livelihood caused by herds of wild boars, particularly in the fields adjoining forest areas in Pollachi, Madukkarai, Thondamuthur, Perur, Mettupalayam, Annur, and Periyanaickenpalayam.

The farmers demanded effective measures by District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar and senior officials of Forest Department who took part in the meeting.
