Rosie Rios, the chair of America 250, the nonprofit supporting organization to the commission created by the U.S. Congress to organize the country's 250th birthday, told The Associated Press the group is planning a second ball drop in Times Square on July 3, 2026, for the occasion.

Rios said this is the first time in 120 years that there will be a ball drop outside of New Year's Eve.

Separately, Rios told the New York Post the event will exceed Americans' expectations.
