The ninth edition of Mangaluru Kambala, organised by Mangaluru Kambala Samiti, will be held at Goldfinch City, Bangra Kuluru, here on December 27.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, president of the committee and Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Captain Brijesh Chowta said that the race will be held in six categories from 8.30 a.m. As many as 160 pairs of buffaloes are expected to participate in the race. There will be a stage function at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra and other leaders will participate in it. The prizes will be distributed on Sunday at 8 a.m.

He said that there will be an art exhibition on Rani Abbakka at the venue. As many as 150 students will sing Vande Mantaram in chorus to mark the 150th year of the song. Saplings will be distributed to people to plant them in the name of their mothers. In addition, nine entrepreneurs who thrived abroad in their ventures and who have now returned to Mangaluru region and continued their ventures here, will be honoured under the ‘Back to ooru’ initiative.

There will be drawing, photography, reels making competitions.
