Greater Chennai Corporation makes plans to generate a revenue of ₹75 crore per annum from January 2026, by roping in private agencies to display ads in over 1,400 locations. The civic body recently floated tenders worth ₹73 crore for the project.

According to an official in the Revenue and Finance Department, advertising and bid notice has been sent to private agencies who would be interested. The displays will not in banner format, and rather will be similar to the ones on streetlights. The size will be decided by GCC and the casing for the ads would be done by the private party. The work is expected to begin from mid-January 2026.
