An explosion at a Pennsylvania nursing home left the center partially collapsed and aflame on Tuesday, Dec. 23.
Bucks County 911 got a report of an explosion with multiple injuries at Silver Lake Healthcare Center around 2:17 p.m. ET in Bristol, reported the Bucks County Courier Times, part of the USA TODAY Network. First responders took at least three elderly residents out on gurneys, and multiple injuries have been reported. Nurses and others in scrubs from Lower Bucks Hospital next door gathered around the scene, watching and offering blankets and more assistance to residents who were removed from the building.
The cause of the explosion was not immediately known. Authorities did not immediately say what the extent of injuries was or whether there were fatalities.
Nearby residents said they heard the blast and felt their homes shake in the neighborhood around the facility.
