Over 27 lakh or nearly 12.88% of voters in Chhattisgarh have been excluded from the draft electoral roll published by the Election Commission of India (EC) on Tuesday (December 23, 2025) under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) under way in the State.
“Out of 2,12,30,737 electors, over as on 27.10.2025, 1,84,95,920 electors have submitted their Enumeration Forms as on 18,12.2025 reflecting an overwhelming participation in the first phase of SIR,” said Chhattisgarh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Yashwant Kumar.

As for the remaining 27,34,817 voters, an ECI press release stated, 1,79,043 were enrolled at multiple places. As many as 19,13,540 voters had shifted and 6,42,234 had died. The release added that “Genuine voters can still be added back in electoral roll during the Claims and Objections phase (23.12.2025 to 22.01.2026)”.
Mr. Kumar stated that the successful completion of this phase was the result of coordinated efforts of DEOs of 33 districts,, 90 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), 377Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and 734 Additonal Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AAEROs), and BLOs deployed at 24,371 polling booths. supported by 30000+ volunteers.
