Just like Jack and Rose in “Titanic,” James Cameron will “never let go.” The famed director can clearly hold a grudge as big as an iceberg, as he spoke out about an “ignorant dig” from the 2013 Golden Globes in a new interview with The New York Times.Amy Poehler delivered the line directed at Cameron at the awards show, while talking about director Kathryn Bigelow, whom he was once married to. Bigelow directed “Zero Dark Thirty,” which included some graphic scenes involving torture. “When it comes to torture, I trust the lady who spent three years married to James Cameron,” Poehler, who was co-hosting with Tina Fey at the time, quipped. Cameron reflected on the line, and said that “Amy Poehler’s remark was an ignorant dig, at an event which is supposed to be a celebration of cinema and filmmakers, not a roast.” “I’m pretty thick-skinned, and happy to be the butt of a good-natured joke, but that went too far,” he said in the interview, published earlier this month. “The fact that people found it funny shows exactly what they think of me, even though they have no idea who I am or how I work.” James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow were married from 1989 to 1991, and have remained friends and collaborators since their split.Stephane Cardinale - Corbis via Getty ImagesCameron and Bigelow were married from 1989 to 1991, and have remained friends and collaborators since their split. The two have also squared off against each other at major awards shows before, with Cameron championing Bigelow’s work against his own. “I think we’re really not that different in so many ways, and we know that about each other, that we’re both dedicated to the craft,” the “Avatar” director said in an interview with Charlie Rose back in 2010. “For both of us, it’s very much about the work and about a total, consuming passion for filmmaking,” he said at the time. “And you know, I think that’s what drew us together, is each respected the other’s passion and craft and so on, plus she was gorgeous.” Close
