The Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched the Unified Family Survey (UFS), a major initiative to ensure that every household in the State is accurately recorded in government databases. The exercise is aimed at helping the State government reach all eligible families with welfare schemes and public services promptly, while improving the efficiency of service delivery.

Commencing in mid-December, the survey is being carried out through door-to-door visits by staff of Village Secretariats in rural areas and Ward Secretariats in urban localities. Officials will verify and update details of each family to ensure official records reflect their current status.

A core objective of the UFS is to ensure that no eligible family or individual is left out of government welfare programmes. Updated and accurate records will also simplify the process of issuing certificates and approvals, eliminating repeated verification across departments. The survey is being executed using a dedicated mobile application that enables quick and accurate data collection. Wherever possible, existing records are being pre-filled in the app to reduce the time spent per household. Identity verification is done securely via Aadhaar authentication, protecting citizens’ personal information.
