The Basavanagudi police have arrested a 46-year-old woman who led a double life — working as a college lecturer on weekdays and stealing valuables from functions in Bengaluru during weekends.

The accused has been identified as Revathi, a Kannada lecturer employed at a private college near Bellandur. Police said she would teach at the college throughout the week, but on Sundays, she allegedly targeted wedding venues and function halls across Bengaluru.

According to the police, Revathi would enter marriage halls posing as a relative of the bride or groom. Gaining the trust of guests by engaging them in friendly conversation, she would allegedly steal gold jewellery, have the wedding meal, and leave the venue.

One such incident was reported on November 25 at Dwarakanath Kalyana Mantapa in Basavanagudi, where she allegedly stole gold ornaments.

Police said Revathi is from Shivamogga and is residing at K.R. Puram in east Bengaluru. On Sundays, she would reportedly make rounds of the city, specifically identifying marriage halls hosting weddings.
