Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Tuesday (December 23, 2025) urged the Tamil Nadu government to disburse compensation of ₹40,000 per acre to farmers in the Cauvery delta districts whose paddy crops were inundated due to heavy rains in October and Cyclone Ditwah in November.

In a statement, Dr. Anbumani alleged that even after completing the assessment of crop damage, the DMK government had not disbursed the compensation. Citing media reports, he claimed that though the State government had announced compensation for crop damage, it had not been provided due to a lack of sufficient funds following the expansion of the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme.

If the DMK government attempts to cheat farmers by denying them compensation, it will be impossible to prevent public outrage in the Cauvery delta districts, he said, and urged the DMK government to disburse the compensation immediately.
