The Bihar government on Monday (December 22, 2025) said the State had witnessed a decline in the number of major criminal cases of murders, dacoity and riots compared to last year due to better and effective policing.
“Murder cases fell by 7.72% , dacoity cases by 24.87% and riots cases by 17.97% in comparison to last year due to swift action by the police,” Home Department’s Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar Chaudhary said, asserting that the decline in major criminal cases was significant.

According to the Director General of Police, Vinay Kumar, the police’s swift action and strict vigil led to the arrest of 3.35 lakh persons between January 2025 and November 2025 in major criminal cases. Besides, the police seized 4,528 firearms and 28,414 cartridges during the same period.
Better intelligence gathering mechanism had led to gradual reduction in incidents of communal tensions, he said.
