Actor James Ransone, who was known for his roles on the hit TV series “The Wire” and the blockbuster horror film “It: Chapter Two,” died on Friday. He was 46.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, the cause of death was an apparent suicide. Police were called to a residence, conducted a death investigation and do not suspect foul play, TMZ reported.
Born in Baltimore, Ransone studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and later pursued both acting and music.
His breakthrough role was Ziggy Sobotka, a dock worker and drug dealer, on the critically acclaimed Baltimore crime drama “The Wire.” He was widely lauded for his raw and nuanced portrayal of the character.
Ransone also made notable appearances in “Generation Kill,” “Tangerine,” “It: Chapter Two,” “Sinister” and “The Black Phone.”
