Minister H.K. Patil has urged Maharashtra MP Dhairyasheel S. Mane to stop raking up the border issue with Karnataka.
“I would like to address my brother leaders from Maharashtra and ask them why are they trying to create confusion over this issue. There is no confusion anywhere in the State, including Nippani and Belagavi,” he said.
“We live with a lot of solidarity. Kannada and Marathi speakers are living in harmony in Belagavi and other places in Karnataka. They are living with more affection than brothers. In such a situation, why raise the issue and create unnecessary confusion?” Mr. Patil said in Chikkodi on Sunday.
He was responding to Mr. Mane’s letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking action against Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan for stopping him from entering the district on November 1.
He said that the State government is considering dividing Belagavi district to create a new Chikkodi district.
