The Delhi police have arrested two persons for creating a fake website of the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) and posting job advertisements, an official said on Saturday.
The accused has been identified as Kuldeep, 30, and his ally Piyush, 25, both residents of Jaipur in Rajasthan, and booked under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
“The accused advertised non-existent government vacancies of seven posts of Curator and 84 of Junior Assistant in the ASI, projecting Links to the fake recruitment portal were shared across college student groups, online forums, and messaging platforms. Hundreds of candidates applied, believing they were participating in a legitimate government recruitment drive, “ said Vinit Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (IFSO).
A written examination of about 150 candidates was also conducted at an examination centre in Jaipur by the accused, the officer said.
The officer said the suspect planned to demand money from the selected candidates in exchange for appointment letters.
