The Department of Drugs Control, Puducherry, has cancelled the license and sealed several companies for violation of statutory provisions relating to the sale, storage and distribution of pharmaceutical products in the Union Territory.
Licences of companies, including Lorven Pharmaceuticals at Thirubhuvanaipalayam, Sri Amman Pharma at Kali Pappati Shopping Complex, Villianur Bahour Main Road, Meenakshi Pharma at Dhanakodi Nagar, Dharmapuri, New Jersy Life at Singrikudi Road, Abishegapakkam, Parm House, Chetty Street and Srisun Pharma, Chetty Street, have been cancelled. These were the pharma companies functioning in Puducherry after obtaining licence from the department, an official release here said.
The department has also sealed unlicensed premises, such as Ambal Golden Capsules, Golden Capsules and unnamed godowns meant for manufacturing and storing medicines at Mettupalayam Industrial Estate, Thavalakuppam, Poornankuppam and Kurumbapet villages. The firms and godowns have been sealed for violations and finished products, equipment and materials used for packaging have been seized. The crackdown was initiated in the first two weeks of this month following specific inputs, the release said.
