Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Friday proposed a national gun buyback program to remove surplus, newly banned and illegal firearms from the country in the wake of one of the country's deadliest shootings.
"The terrible events at Bondi show we need to get more guns off our streets," Albanese said during a press conference in Canberra.
Sunday 21 December will be a Day of Reflection to honour the victims of the horrific Bondi Beach terrorist attack.
Light a candle and observe a minute of silence at 6:47 PM, exactly one week on, as a quiet act of remembrance.
This day is about standing with the Jewish... pic.twitter.com/rKVUMeq4Hm— Anthony Albanese (@AlboMP) December 19, 2025
