Premier Giorgia Meloni on Wednesday criticised the European Commission's proposed multiyear budget for the 2028-2034 period, saying it is unacceptable to Italy as it stands.
"The Commission's proposal includes increased contributions and reduced allocations to traditional policies that are crucial to us, such as the Common Agricultural Policy and Cohesion Policy," Meloni told the Lower House as she reported to parliament before this week's EU summit.
"I'll say this bluntly: we won't accept paying more to obtain less".
