Dec. 16 (UPI) -- The Pentagon won't release the full video of the U.S. military's repeated strike on a suspected drug boat that killed 11 people in the Caribbean Sea, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Tuesday.

"In keeping with long-standing Department of War policy ... Department of Defense policy, of course, we're not going to release a top secret, full, unedited video of that to the general public," he told reporters after a briefing with senators.

The full video wasn't shown to lawmakers during the briefing on the military's strikes on suspected drug-smuggling boats.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said the Trump administration "came to this briefing empty handed." He pointed out that video shown in a classified setting with lawmakers wouldn't be made public.
