Dec. 16 (UPI) -- The Pentagon is ramping up its investigation into Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., for his part in a video he made telling service members that they can -- and must -- disobey illegal orders.
An official at the Pentagon told The Hill Monday that Hegseth's office and the Department of Defense's Office of General Counsel are "escalating" the case to "official Command Investigation."
In late November, the Defense Department announced it would investigate Kelly, a retired Navy captain and astronaut, after he and five other Democratic lawmakers with experience in the military or intelligence communities reminded service members that they gave an oath to the Constitution and must refuse illegal orders.
"The Department of War has received serious allegations of misconduct against Captain Mark Kelly, USN (Ret.)," the Department of Defense said.
