Rachael Carpani, an actress best known for starring in the Australian TV series "McLeod's Daughters" in the 2000s, has died. She was 45.
Her sister, Georgia Carpani, shared the news in a Dec. 14 Instagram post, revealing she had "unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness" on Dec. 7.
Rachael Carpani's funeral will be a private event on Dec. 19, according to the statement, which was attributed to her parents, Tony and Gael Carpani.
"The family requests privacy at this very difficult time and will be making no further statements," the post concluded.
USA TODAY has reached out to Carpani's representatives for comment.
