Dec. 16 (UPI) -- European leaders are pledging to provide Ukraine with military force support against Russia, as talks between Washington and Kyiv to end the war with Moscow continue.

The war will reach its four-year anniversary on Feb. 24, but the United States has been pushing for a cease-fire agreement based on a two-dozen-point Trump administration proposal.

Berlin hosted meetings between Kyiv officials and U.S. special envoy Steven Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner on Sunday and Monday, during which it was important of the United States to hear "all the details regarding the war," President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a statement.

He said there are aspects to the U.S. agreement he sees as "destructive" to Ukraine. Though he would not state what those were, Zelensky said, "it is important" that they be removed from future drafts of the agreement.
