Beyoncé Knowles-Carter opened up about her mindset and the grind behind the glamour of her history-making "Cowboy Carter" tour in Pollstar magazine's new year end issue.
The "Cowboy Carter" star graces the cover of the issue, released Dec. 15. In it, Beyoncé reflects on her record-breaking Cowboy Carter and Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour, sharing new insight during a question and answer portion.
"This was born from my love and respect for the rich country genre. For many years I’ve focused on preserving and celebrating the lost history of the Black cowboy," she told the trade publication for the concert and live music industry. "The overall intention for this tour was to celebrate American resiliency."
Of course, Beyoncé closed out her "Cowboy Carter" tour in Las Vegas on July 26. The final show included surprise performances by Destiny's Child, Jay-Z and Shaboozey. And the concert signaled the end of her "Cowboy Carter" era — a 32-stop stadium tour that spanned the U.S. and Europe.
"We showcased many aspects of my upbringing in Texas, like the salon in honor of my mother’s hair salon, I grew up in, and the saloon, honoring my great-grandfather who sold moonshine in Alabama," she said. "I was inspired by the Texas Lone Star, and the beautiful art town of Marfa (Texas)."
