Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Florida quarterback D.J. Lagway will enter the transfer portal, he announced Monday on social media.

Lagway, who dealt with injuries throughout his tenure with the Gators, threw 28 touchdown passes and 23 interceptions over the last two years. He totaled an SEC-high 14 interceptions in 2025 for the Gators, who went 4-8.

"First and foremost, I want to thank God for every blessing he has placed over my life," Lagway wrote on X and Instagram. "I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such an incredible program here at the University of Florida."

Lagway completed 63.2% of his passes for 2,264 yards and 16 touchdowns, in addition to his high interception total, over 12 appearances this season.

Lagway was the top quarterback recruit in the class of 2024 and top signing of former coach Billy Napier, who was fired in October. The Gators hired former Tulane coach Jon Sumrall in November as Napier's permanent replacement.
