Sometimes having someone else drive you around the city isn’t just nice, it’s also a more convenient and even safer option. With rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft, there’s a small luxury in not having to get behind the wheel and deal with the annoyance of stop-and-go traffic. It’s also especially useful for situations when driving yourself isn’t the best option, like after a medical appointment, you’ve been partying a little too hard, getting to or from the airport, traveling in a new city or when the idea of carrying your groceries home feels too burdensome.
Personally, I’ve always used Lyft for the moments when driving just isn’t worth it.
It’s especially helpful on late nights out when I’ve had a few drinks, airport rides when I don’t want to deal with parking or those in-between trips where convenience wins out over public transit. And as a bonus, Lyft also integrates with my city’s bike-share program, which means these credits stretch beyond car rides and help make quick bike trips around town a little cheaper, too.
Lyft can also be an easy lifeline for people dealing with temporary injuries, chronic pain or other conditions that may make driving difficult. It’s especially helpful for medical appointments and procedures where driving yourself isn’t advised, so you won’t need to worry about navigating traffic when you’re not at your best. I’ve called plenty of Lyft rides for family members in need of transport from appointments, even from many states away.
