SEOUL, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- General Motors Korea promised Monday to invest $300 million to upgrade its products here and beef up the foundation for continued production beyond 2028 amid concerns about a possible exit from the country.
During a 2026 business strategy conference held at its proving ground in Incheon, west of Seoul, GM Korea also unveiled plans to introduce two new brands, GMC and Buick, to the local market next year.
"GM Korea now serves as a key production hub in General Motors's global growth strategy, responding to strong global demand for vehicles built in Korea," GM Korea CEO Hector Villarreal said in a statement.
"We will continue to invest in our manufacturing footprint to strengthen competitiveness over the mid- to long-term. GM's commitment to Korea remains unchanged, and we are set for a sustainable future, ever before," he said.
