The Los Angeles Chargers eliminated the Kansas City Chiefs from playoff contention when Derwin James picked off a pass by Gardner Minshew – who had just taken over for the injured Patrick Mahomes – in the closing seconds to preserve victory over the reigning AFC champions.
The Chiefs’ pain was compounded when it was confirmed that Mahomes had torn an ACL, an injury that will end his season and will require a long recovery.
“Don’t know why this had to happen. And not going to lie it’s hurts. But all we can do now is trust in God and attack every single day over and over again,” Mahomes wrote on X. “Thank you Chiefs kingdom for always supporting me and for everyone who has reached out and sent prayers. I will be back stronger than ever.”
