Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said the Delhi government will create a digital database of agricultural land using funds from the Centre to check fake claims, incorrect data, and forged documents.
“Under the Centre’s Special Assistance to the States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, a digital identity of farmers and a geo-mapped record of agricultural land will be created in Delhi. In return, the Central government will provide financial assistance. This assistance will not be given as a one-time grant but will be released based on the achievement of defined targets,” the Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement.
The CMO said the SASCI scheme is to incentivise States that integrate agriculture with digital systems. Delhi will also conduct the farmers’ registry and the digital crop survey.
The Centre has announced a special assistance package of ₹5,000 crore for States under the SASCI scheme. “Delhi will now receive its share from this allocation,” the statement said.
For the first time in Delhi, manual crop inspection will be replaced by a digital crop survey, and the geo-location of every field will be recorded, according to the government.
