Ms. Banerjee’s participation in the SIR process on the last day of the collection of filled-in enumeration forms was, however, not without controversy. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership on Friday (December 12) pointed out that at a rally in Krishnanagar on Thursday, the State’s Chief Minister had denied participating in the SIR process.

“West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has once again shown her instinct to mislead. She submitted her duly filled and signed Enumeration Form on the very last day, yet just hours earlier from a rally in Krishnanagar she falsely claimed she would not submit it at all,” BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya posted on social media.
