Sherrone Moore, the former Michigan football coach fired on Dec. 10, was reportedly detained by police the same day he was relieved of his duties.
Moore was detained in the city of Saline, less than 10 miles south of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, according to ESPN. Authorities said the Saline Police Department "assisted in locating and detaining" Moore. Officials added Moore was turned over to the Pittsfield Township police, the town in between Ann Arbor and Saline.
It was not said why Moore was detained. USA TODAY Sports has reached out to authorities for more information.
Asked about Moore a little after 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Saline Police Chief Marlene A. Radzik referred comment to the Pittsfield Charter Township Police Department, per the Detroit Free Press.
News of Moore's arrest comes hours after he was fired by Michigan for cause. Athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement after a university investigation, "credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior," the statement reads.
