With his new gig, Tony Dokoupil may be able to hit snooze on his early bird alarm clock.

The Emmy Award-winning TV journalist and CBS News staple has been named the anchor of "CBS Evening News," CBS announced in a statement on Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Dokoupil, who'd been cohosting "CBS Mornings," alongside Gayle King and Nate Burleson since 2019, will make the shift over to "Evening News" on Jan. 5, 2026, the network shared.

In his new role, Dokoupil, 44, will "get out from behind the anchor desk and meet with viewers in cities and towns across America," CBS announced.
