Erika Kirk says her family’s faith has been crucial to helping them cope with the death of her husband, conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was promoting her late spouse’s book, “Stop, in the Name of God: Why Honoring the Sabbath Will Transform Your Life,” on Fox News Monday when host Sean Hannity asked if believing in heaven had been a comfort for her and the children.
“My daughter and I, we’ve talked about this at night,” Kirk said of her 3-year-old. “She would ask, ‘What do you think Daddy did today in heaven?’ And I’ll have her relay that back to me.”
“We’ve come to the understanding – and I’ve tried to explain this to her –- that Daddy’s still with us, he’s just in a different location, and he’s building us a home in heaven,” Kirk said. “And, I’ve said this before, but she said, ‘I can’t wait to go.’ I said, ‘Me too, baby.’”
Kirk also told Hannity that while she’s still coming to terms with the fact that her husband is gone, she continues to feel his presence in her life.
