Raised by a three-time Grand Slam champion and an Olympic gold medalist, Hugh Brasher’s life has always been immersed in sport.

“Sport has been an intrinsic part of my life. It runs through my blood,” Brasher told CNBC’s Steve Sedgwick on the “Executive Decisions” podcast.

After transforming his family’s specialist sporting shop into a nationwide chain, Brasher eventually sold the business to Sports Direct founder Mike Ashley—a decision he stands by today.

“Does the company exist anymore? No, it doesn’t. Should it exist anymore? I don’t know, because society changes... I learned an enormous amount from Mike,” Brasher said.

Brasher now leads London Marathon Events, overseeing some of the world’s most iconic endurance races. He is a strong believer in manifesting your destiny.
