Dec. 3 (UPI) -- The University of South Florida Bulls hired Ohio State offensive coordinator Brian Hartline as their head football coach, they announced Wednesday.
Ohio State Buckeyes coach Ryan Day told reporters Wednesday that Hartline will remain with the top-ranked Buckeyes through the College Football Playoff.
"I'm honored and excited to join the University of South Florida as its new head football coach," Hartline said in a news release. "Becoming a first-time head coach at a place like USF is a dream come true for me and my family.
Hartline, 39, worked as a wide receivers coach, offensive coordinator and offensive assistant over the last eight seasons. During that span, the Buckeyes produced a deluge of elite pass catchers and several of the most potent offenses in college football. Hartline also became renowned for recruiting and development of prospects.
